First/Then Boards & Picture Cards

First-Then Boards are an excellent way to visually motivate students to complete tasks or behaviors. I have included several options as well as frequently used picture cards here to use with the boards that represent (first) expected tasks/behaviors and (then) reinforcers for which the student is working. If you have other picture needs, please let me know and I can get them for you. When implementing the First-Then Board, point to the picture stating "First ______ (expected task/behavior), Then _________(reinforcer)."  I use velcro to attach the pictures or sticky-tac would also work. Be sure the reinforcers that you are using are enticing to the student and these may need to be changed up regularly to keep them motivated.

Helpful tip: When presenting "Then" options to a student, only present 2-3 options at a time, otherwise it can increase anxiety with decision-making. (Ex. While placing the pictures on the board, say "First I need you to complete a writing assignment, Then would you like to earn computer time or a break with a friend?)
