This course will follow the curriculum of the AP French Language and Culture course, which revolves around the themes of family and communities, science and technology, beauty and esthetics, global challenges, personal and public identities, and contemporary life. Students will be expected to speak only French in teh classroom and the class will be conducted in French. Students will give oral presentations, conduct conversations with others on each themes, and write persuasive essays, e-mails, and reactions to audio and video sources. This course differs from the AP Course in that students will not be required to do the research assignments component of the AP class and different grading criteria may be used for certain assignments than what is used in the AP course.

Course Themes:

Designing the AP French Language and Culture course around themes creates an interesting, meaningful context in which to explore a variety of language concepts. Themes help teachers integrate language, content, and culture into an interrelated series of lessons and activities that promote the use of the language in a variety of contexts. A theme may be used to plan a brief unit of study or a comprehensive unit spanning a greater period of time, or to connect with AP courses in other disciplines.
