The Titan Times interviewed Mrs. Whitehill recently.
Q:Where did you go to college and what did you major in?
A: “I went to a Parsons School of Design in NYC. Today it's the New School for Social Research. My major was Bachelor of Fine Arts. Then eventually I got a masters of Education at American International College in Springfield.”
Q: What is your favorite part of teaching?
A: “To me it's sharing culture more than anything else, sharing legends during class with TPRS, Grammar is sort of boring.”
Q: What are your favorite things to do outside of school?
A: “Travel, last summer I went to Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Puerto Rico and I traveled to Mexico over April vacation.”
Q: What is your favorite memory as a teacher?
A: “I used to work at Barnstable and we did an art unit, and we took them to the Museum of Fine Arts. But most of the kids on the bus had never crossed the bridge from the Cape.”
Q: Was it always your plan to be a teacher?
A: “No, I used to be an apparel designer. I worked for Nike and Reebok. When I worked at Nike I designed the Jordan line. I would design the warm up clothes. When I moved back to the East Coast I worked for Reebok where I still designed for Micheal Jordan and designed the 1992 Olympic Jackets for the Olympic team also known as the first Dream Team.”
Mrs. Whitehill encourages everyone to be open and flexible. Whitehill said, “You never know where life is going to take you.”
