FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can we turn off the session summary emails?

A: Yes. From the GoGuardian Teacher dashboard, click on a classroom, click Settings, click Reporting, then click the toggle to disable Session Report emails. You can also turn off session summaries for ALL classes from your profile.

Q: How do I group students?

A: Directions are posted here: GoGuardian Groups

Q: Can I put students in group breakout rooms?

A: Yes, use the Group Students feature to organize your groups, then, select the Call Group button for each of your small groups. If you are running simultaneous breakout sessions, please make sure to mute your microphone when leaving a room and utilize the Mute Tab Chrome extension to silence a room.

Q: What does it mean when it says "Student Not Found"?

A: Students or teachers should submit a technology request if the student has a school-issued Chromebook, but is not showing up in GoGuardian.

Q: Can we change how we see the students in the grid so we can see all students at once?

A: Currently, GoGuardian allows users to view eight students at once. You can click through the pages to see the other students.

Q: What if a student isn't online at the start of class - can they join in automatically once they're online?

A: Yes. Offline students will be prompted to join the call, when they come online. All students, including offline students, should be invited to the class video call.

Q: Can the students see each other? Or talk to each other?

A: Yes. If the teacher has enabled a group video call, students will be able to see the other students on the call. Students have a similar view to what teachers see, except that teachers can hover over students to mute them, disable their webcams, or click to view student browsing activity. Additionally, teachers can always click the GoGuardian Teacher tab to monitor student device activity, while students do not have that option.

Q: Can students screen share? Is there a setting to toggle?

A: Students cannot independently share their own screens, but the teacher can share a student’s screen to the whole class.

Q: My co-teacher can't see or participate if I'm in lecture mode. Is there a way around that?

A: Not currently.

Q: If class is co-taught, do classes have to be imported through Google Classroom by both teachers?

A: Yes. Both teachers need to import the classes from Google Classroom. Once they do so, both teachers will be owners of the GoGuardian classroom.
