JOIN OUR PRIMARY WING!
Pelkhil School stood among the top schools of 500+ primary schools in Bhutan in the 2016 Class III common exams conducted by BCSEA! Our students scored almost 80% in English, Dzongkha and Maths, against a national average of just 60%! This was even higher than the average of all the private primary schools. This is an amazing achievement considering that our Primary Wing is not focused just on academics but also offers the widest range of extra-curricular activities among all primary schools. (see chart below for more details)
Class size is an important factor that enables teachers in our Primary Wing to do the best for our students. The average class size is less than 20 students per section compared to 35-55 in government schools.
The best advantage of government schools is that there are no school fees. However, congestion is a major problem and many students do well primarily because of the extra tuition classes they have to sign up for. Tuition costs about Nu.300 per lesson, so even taking tuition only twice a week incurs a cost of Nu.2400/month or about Nu.20,000 a year. Clearly, free is not really free!
We provide supplementary textbooks from the Cambridge International Examinations free of charge in Mathematics, English and Science. We are also the only school to provide Music and Art and HPE as regular subjects (at no extra charge) taught by qualified and experienced teachers.
With our qualified and experienced teachers and excellent facilities, you can expect much more from us. We are confident that students entering our Primary Wing will develop a solid academic foundation in preparation for the challenges of middle and higher secondary school.
Parents are advised to reserve their seats early as our class sizes will remain small.
