Every year, as you are no doubt aware, the Jamboree of the Air/Jamboree of the Internet (JOTA/JOTI) takes place on the third full weekend in October.
In 2021, that falls on the 15th–17th October.
Since 2017, there has been a Minderup District JOTA/JOTI Base at the Leighton Battery WWII Tunnels.
In 2021, we are looking to continue providing this opportunity to the Scouts in the Minderup District—and the rest of Perth!
Typically, we run a range of hands-on radio and internet activities. Participants can expect to test their skills at:
ham radio (with a licensed radio operator running sessions to scouts worldwide)
morse code
signal flags
two way radios
radio phonetics
flag semaphore
meet other Scouts on Skype
meet other Scouts on IRC (ScoutLink)
explore the underground tunnels and look-outs unique to this historically significant site.
Activities kick-off at 18:30 on Friday 15th October and continue until 18:00 on Saturday 16th October 2020. Registrations will be welcomed in advance from Sections, Patrols and individuals. Usually, we include the opportunity for some participants to sleep over in the Command Post, the Tunnels, or camping on the grounds.
