Welcome!

Dear New 4th Grade Students,

Hello, my name is Mrs. Byrne.  I am excited to begin another year as part of the amazing team of fourth grade teachers at Pelham Elementary School. I've been teaching fourth grade in Pelham since 2010.  Previously, I taught both second and third grade for ten years in the state of New Jersey.   

I grew up in Seekonk, Massachusetts where I was a Girl Scout, took piano lessons, and swam competitively for many years. I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Reading/Curriculum & Instruction.  Mr. Byrne and I met at Penn State, and we are diehard Nittany Lions. We have two grown sons: Nick and Chris. We also have one extremely silly cat named Cleo. I'm sure that you will hear lots of funny stories about my family this year.

Teaching is my passion!  I love researching and testing out new ways of learning that are fun and exciting for my students.  Watch out!  We may get a little crazy at times this year.  In my free time, I enjoy travel, gardening, exercising, knitting, attending theater performances, and hiking.  However, my most favorite activity of all is to snuggle up on the couch with a good book.  I LOVE to read!

I am thrilled to be teaching fourth grade again this year.  It is my favorite grade.  I look forward to meeting all of you very soon and spending an AMAZING year together!
