Mesopotamian Warfare
Weapons and Battle Strategies
Mesopotamia's battle strategies and weapons were very destructive if you used them well together. Sumariens created Chariot with lighter wheels so they could get around the battlefield quickly. The Assyrians created iron weapons, and had one of the best battle strategies, so they became unstoppable. Assyrians were the best in siege warfare probably because they brought a separate corps of engineers with them. Sargon the Great held siege warfare against Samaria for three years. Mesopotamian’s favorite weapons were spears, Maces, axes, adzes, and bow and arrow. Chariot troops were some of the best troops, they used spears and bow and arrows which were very effective. One of the best battle strategies were the shield wall tactic, there were short swordsmen in the front spear troops in the back, and charioteers troops as the flankers. (LK)
