Sumerian (Dates)

Sumer is an ancient civilization that was founded in Mesopotamia region of the Fertile Crescent which was in between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. They are considered the creators of civilizations and how humans understand it. Did you know that the Sumerian language is the most primeval language that has changed over the time. Also, Sumerians were traders, farmers, potters, and weavers. However, being a farmer would not be considered a specialized job. They were also sailors. Their name comes from the region which is frequently – and incorrectly – referred to as a “country”. They disappeared disappeared from history about 2000 B.C. as a result of military domination by various Semitic peoples.

The Sumerians made more inventions and most present day innovations. The temple community city-states of Sumer did not form leagues and alliances until after the glory of the era of Sumer. The Sumerian writing became known to the modern world as investigations were found. With wars of defense the role of the priesthood declined relative to the role of the warriors. The Sumerians were the people of southern Mesopotamia whose civilization flourished between c. 4100-1750 BCE. The ancient Sumerians, the "black-headed ones," lived in the southern part of what is now Iraq.

Each city-state of Sumer was surrounded by a wall, with villages settled just outside and distinguished by the worship of local deities. The people known as Sumerians were in control of the area by 3000 B.C. The Sumerians were considered to have a rich body of literary works, though only fragments of these documents exist. Babylonian (Dates)

Some kings of Babylon include Nebuchadnezzar, Humbarabi, Nabonidus, and maybe Gilgamesh no one knows. Gilgamesh’s name was on a list of kings. The capital of babylonian is the one and only Babylon, the greatest city in Mesopotamia. Some parts of babylonian are busy like Babylon, and other places like areas surrounding the hanging garden are calm. While the Assyrians were concerning the north the Babylonians were conquering the south. Between 606 BCE and 536 BCE the Babylonians conquered the middle east north of saduia arabia, Iraq, and parts of iran and turkey.

The Babylonian army plays war smart and ugly. Before the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem Egyptians were coming to invade babylonian but the Babylonians saw it coming so they destroyed Jerusalem then they retreated into their empire. When the Egyptians saw what the Babylonians did to Jerusalem they retreated back to egypt. The Babylonians would claim some of Egypt in the years to come. The main reason the Babylonians had such a large empire is that they made alliances with countries to help defend themselves against 1 attack then break the alliance and capture the country and declare it part of babylonian. Babylonian is home to one of the 7 wonders of the world, the hanging gardens. They were built by king Nebuchadnezzar to resemble a mountain in Meads. They were built for Nebuchadnezzar’s homesick wife Amytis. The hanging gardens resembled some items the Greeks made in some ways. Many people say that the gardens were built for pleasure. In mesopatamia the gardens were known as a paradise.

Assyrian (Dates)

For 300 years, from 900 to 600 B.C., the Assyrian Empire grew, ruled the Middle East, including Mesopotamia, Egypt, the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, and parts of today's Turkey, Iran and Iraq.

The Assyrians were perhaps most famous for their feared army. They were a warrior group where fighting was important for them. They were known throughout the land as cruel warriors. One thing that made the Assyrians great warriors were their deadly iron weapons. They made iron weapons that were stronger than the copper or tin weapons of some of their enemies.

The Assyrians first rose to power when the Akkadian Empire fell. The Babylonians had control of southern Mesopotamia and the Assyrians had the north. One of their strongest leaders during this time was King Shamshi-Adad. Under Shamshi-Adad the empire expanded to control much of the north and the Assyrians got rich. (TK)
