This year we will learn lots of decoding strategies that will help us become great readers. We will continue to fill our reader's toolbox with strategies to deepen our comprehension of both fiction and non-fiction books.

As first graders, we will explore many different kinds of writing. We will explode the small moments from our lives into detailed stories, become experts that write non-fiction chapter books, learn to give an opinion with strong reasons, and much more!

Thinking of ourselves as writers is so important. Try keeping a journal at home. You can get extra practice writing at home about the things that are important to you!
