English 8

Welcome to English 8! 

English 8 provides students with the tools to develop their skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Using a variety of texts from both fiction (short stories, novels, plays, poems, flash-fiction) and non-fiction (articles, memoirs, essays), students will be challenged to continually improve their fluidity and comprehension, their understanding of words in context, and their ability to analyze and make critical connections. In writing, students will practice composing an evidence-based claim (thesis) and supporting this claim with relevant supporting details from the texts. Vocabulary and spelling skills are reinforced and assessed weekly.
