Support Broker Services
Support Broker Services
"Funded by New York State's Office for People wiith Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), Self-Direction gives you the chance to choose your own services so you can live the life you want. When you self-direct your services, you have increased flexibility to choose the right supports for you, the staff you want to work with and a schedule that works best for you. This gives you more control over how you want to structure your life.
Things you can self-direct:
where you live
how you spend your days
what you do in your spare time
how you stay healthy and active
your relationships with family and friends
who you hire to assist you
A Support Broker is an integral part of the Self-Direction process. You will work with your Support Broker to develop a complete Self-Direction Budget that includes the supports and services you identified during Person-Centered Planning. Prospective clients must contact their care manager for assistance with attending a Self-Direction Information Session at their Developmental Disabilities Regional Office (DDRO). Anyone who is eligible for OPWDD services and enrolled in the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver can choose to self-direct their services."*

An independent patient/client advocate is a person who works on behalf of individuals who are in need of help with some aspect of their healthcare. This could be navigating a complex and confusing healthcare system, coordinating healthcare needs, assisting with applying for medical insurance or social service benefits, finding treatment options, being a voice for the client, and other tasks.

administering oaths and affirmations;
taking affidavits and depositions;
receiving and certifying acknowledgments or proof of such written instruments as deeds, mortgages and powers of attorney.

Independent & Responsible Living (IRL) Seminar
Let PEACS host the IRL seminar at your school, community center, or social service agency! This interactive and person-centered workshop focuses on developing independent living skills and exploring techniques to combat barriers to personal growth, accountability, and responsibility. Great for young adults, college bound students, clients with I/DD who are looking to increase their level of independence, and individuals who require additional support.
