Teaching
- Create a curriculum that responds to current research, state and national competencies, teacher candidate outcomes and stakeholder input
- Partner with schools to develop field experiences that model exemplary practices and to ensure implementation and application of practices and strategies presented in courses (continuous improvement approach to school improvement)
- Continuously evaluate and improve the efficacy of our own practices, pedagogy, and partnerships in preparing teachers and partnering with the community
- Partners with schools and in community initiatives that create opportunities for students to participate in advocacy, leadership and systems for change in diverse and inclusive environments
- Recruit individuals with varied life experiences and languages who are committed to serving all learners and communities
Service
- Raise awareness of and advocate for evidence-based practices
- Provide training and technical assistance that responds to current needs, research, and policy in educational community
- Increase the capacity of partners (schools, community, state, and national) to implement systems supporting the sustainable use of evidence-based practices
Research
- Develop research partnerships with universities, school districts, the state department, and others
- Engage in research to develop and advance effective educational theory, practices, and implementation
- Improve infrastructure to support efforts to obtain funding and conduct research
- Disseminate research to professional community and seek publication
- Disseminate evidence-based practices to administrators, teachers, and families
