They were once a High School student in rural Oregon who looked forward to MESA every week. MESA took on a large role in their life, it was something that first introduced them to Portland State. Jupiter's last year of MESA was bittersweet, for one they were excited to use the skills they had learned the last four years in a new place with new people, on the other hand they were leaving behind something that had empowered not only them but thousands across Oregon.

Jupiter Hernandez is a psychology student at Portland State University. MESA was more than just a club for Jupiter. It was a way to connect with other students who were interested in STEM. They enjoyed taking on challenges and being able to apply real science to real community members.
