Save Money by Avoiding Late Fees

Each term, students have the option to pay a balance in full by the due date or to enroll in the PSU payment plan. If a payment is missed, a $100 late fee will be applied. This article serves to share tips & resources for avoiding late fees.

As long as a balance is paid on time, you will not have to worry about late fees. Deadlines are found on the PSU website so it will be useful to review when payments are due. To be extra safe set reminders in a calendar that say when the payment is due. Be sure to enroll in the payment plan ahead of time as well.  Keep in mind, signing up for the PSU Payment Plan does NOT automatically enroll you for auto-pay. You must sign up separately for auto-pay and re-enroll in both the Payment Plan and auto-pay every term.  If you have not enrolled in the PSU Payment Plan or paid in full by the first payment due date, you will be automatically enrolled in the Payment Plan and charged a $100 late fee.

2. Set up automatic transactions

This will allow you to not forget about when a payment is due since it will be automatically made. See the instructions below.

Go to myPSU and log in to your PSU student account.

3. Meet with a Financial Coach from the FWC to set up a budget

Setting up a budget will help you prepare for making your payments and become more aware of your financial situation. You can make an appointment with a financial coach at pdx.campus.eab.com

4. Apply for a late fee petition

If you were not able to make a payment by the deadline and were charged the $100 late fee, you may petition for the late fee to be waived from your account.
