PEOPLE

Dr. Jetter is an interdisciplinary researcher at the intersection of management, system modeling, and engineering and the Associate Dean for Research at the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science. Her work helps organizations solve wicked problems through innovation and results in theoretical insights and methods for knowledge sharing and collective intelligence.

Dr. Jetter is the program director for FOCOS.

Dr. Agrawal is an assistant professor in computer science, with a research lab dedicated to Natural Language Processing. Her current research interests include summarization models, conversation analysis, and multilingual systems. Ameeta's work focuses on unsupervised learning, fairness in computational models, affect analysis, and knowledge graphs.

Dr. Agrawal is the founder of the Compassionate Computing Lab. The lab has taken the FOCOS project under its wings to use computing for societal impact.  

Before pursuing a Doctorate in Technology Management at Portland State University, Dr. Alibage worked in industry as a safety engineer. He completed his dissertation in 2020. This work and subsequent post-doc fellowship provide important foundations for FOCOS. Dr. Alibage works for an international consultancy company. He remains committed to fostering culture change in organizations. 

Dr. Liang is an assistant professor Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship & Information Systems at LSU's School of Business.  His research asks a simple question: Why do some people behave in ways that most of us would consider irrational and immoral? Why do people spread misinformation on the internet or believe conspiracy theories? Why do they act maliciously against their employer? Dr. Liang brings the theoretical perspectives and methods of this research to FOCOS, helping the team evaluate training outcomes. He also serves as the program co-director. 

Ms. Espinoza-Gala is a lifetime practitioner and human factors consultant, with many contributions to the safety of offshore energy activities. As an industry consultant to the project, she connects the FOCOS team to people, companies, and the ongoing debates on safety culture in the Gulf of Mexico. She has published with the FOCOS team: She is the first author of an article on HRO and the Deepwater Horizon disaster in ACS Chemical Health & Safety.   

Vernon Goodwin

Industry Consultant

Mr. Goodwin has had a 44-year career in upstream oilfield operations and has drilled the (at the time) deepest commercial well in the Gulf of Mexico. He is now semi-retired as a technical writer on safety, environmental, team behavior, and regulatory compliance. As an industry consultant to the project, he is focused on bringing industry perspectives to the training manual and evaluation.

Dahm Mongkol Hongchai is a PhD student at PSU, an Agile coach, a Scrum Master, and a business consultant with 5 years experience in high-tech and Startup industries in Silicon Valley, Thailand, and Australia. His research intersts sit at the intersection of training/coaching and organizational change management, making FOCOS a prime focus of his studies. Before joining the PhD program, Dahm has worked in industry for 11 years,  focusing on Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma in chemical production at Thailand's largest company.

Juan is pursuing a career in Product Management with a graduate degree in Engineering and Technology Management at Portland State. He is passionate about entrepreneurship and technology. His work involves building tech-based products that create a positive impact on organizations and individuals.

Yufei  is a PhD student in Computer Science at Portland State University (PSU). His research focuses on the fields of dialogue systems and the efficiency of Natural Language Processing (NLP). As part of his work, Yufei is responsible for the full-stack development in this project.
