Mission

FOCOS stands for 'Fuzzy Operational Cognition of Safety Culture'. FOCOS' mission is to prevent accidents and to make offshore operations more resilient.

FOCOS trains users on best practices of high-reliablity safety culture. The training is customized for the offshore energy industry and targets front-line safety leaders. It can be used in addition to existing health and safety training programs.  

When training with the FOCOS software, users think through the impact of everyday behaviors on safety culture and experiment with different approaches. The software lets users add, intensify, or stop safety practices and see how their decisions impact the overall safety culture. To inform future research and pilot programs, FOCOS will collect data on uncertain and controversial safety practices and track different training needs.
