My teaching and research interests lie in hydrology and spatial analysis. In hydrology and water resources, I am interested in examining the human modification of the hydrologic system. I examine the complex interactions among climate change, land use change, and water management that drive major changes in water quantity and quality. To understand and model such a complex system, I use an integrated approach that embraces biophysical sciences, social sciences, and information sciences. Hence the use of geographic information technology including geocomputational methods and visual spatial analysis is essential to conduct my research and teaching.

About Me: Hey there! I'm Tamm, (they/them) and I'm originally from Cincinnati, Ohio! My major is focused on climate change and adaptation in the face of climate crisis. The intersection between environmental pollutants and climate change, and how the mitigation and alleviation of these issues often go hand in hand, is my main research interest. An example of this intersection might be the increasing wildfires across the Pacific Northwest. These events not only devastate the landscape, but also create ash; Ash which in turn can be made of building, agriculture, and industrial materials, which in turn often ends up in waterways such as lakes, streams, and reservoirs. It is this kind of research that being an EAGLES scholar will help me move towards and give me the skills, knowledge, and experience in order to be successful in my future endeavors.

About Me: My name is Khan, I am in my 3rd year of college. I arrived in the United States in 2015 with my mom and my younger sister. I am a former Project Zero intern with Columbia Slough Watershed Council through PGE (Portland General Electric). I was also an interned at the City of Gresham from 2017-2019. With the City of Gresham, I worked on natural resources and storm drains, as well as other tasks through the City that helped me grow academically and socially which also leaded me to interest into environmental and nature. I am currently working for Sound Native Plants, position in Maintains and Installation which making a hug impact to the community and the environment by cleaning bioswales, spraying invasive species, and doing restoration. With that being said, EAGLES would definitely help me to reach my goals by helping me to climb to the top of the mountains and pushing me through all my obstacles since I have nothing else that would support me when I am about to fall. Therefore, EAGLES would be like a mom who will motivate her kids when they feel they can't do it and like a dad who would holds his kids and protects them as he leads to the other side of the wall.
Major: Biology
About Me: My name is Amar Umer. I am starting the fall 2021 term as a sophomore, but I will be a junior by the end of the term. I am a biology major and transferred from Portland Community College. I am interested in environmental pollution alleviation because it guides everyone in the direction of following better practices that promote environmental health and biodiversity. It also interests me because working on environmental sustainability and creating a planet free of pollution that we and the future generation call home is at the core of the program. I believe EAGLES will help me gain the knowledge I need to reduce environmental pollution and create awareness among others about the cause.
Major: Biology
About Me: My name is Annie Wang and I’m currently starting my freshman year of college. I’m studying to be a biology major and environmental pollution alleviation interests me in how it can be applied to our current climate crisis. It’s intriguing to come up with ideas on how to ease pollution, or how to clean up nuclear waste, or how to clean up the pollutants in the water around us. Even if it’s not possible right now, brainstorming ideas and trying to make them a reality is always challengingly fun. By participating in Eagles, it will allow me to discover multiple ways of how to implement ideas into reality and grant me the opportunity to expand my mindset via the multiple opportunities and experiences that I am lucky to be a part of in the future.
