Do I need to be currently admitted to Portland State University to apply?
No. Any student currently enrolled, admitted, or planning to attend PSU full time 2024/25 is encouraged to apply. To receive the maximum award of $10,000 per year, full time enrollment at PSU for Fall 2024 would be best.
Do I have to be Pell Grant eligible or receive a Pell Grant to qualify?
No. All applicants must have FAFSA for the 2024/25 academic year. To be eligible for the program scholarship, scholars must have unmet financial need.
How much money is the EAGLES Scholarship award?
The EAGLES Scholarship award is calculated on a sliding scale, based on each student’s unique financial situation. Award amounts are determined by the Financial Aid Office, based on student unmet financial need towards the cost of attendance at PSU. The maximum award is $10,000 per year.
Do I need to have knowledge or experience with environmental pollution to apply or participate in this program?
Students do not need to have prior education or research experience related to environmental pollution to qualify or participate. Applicants should be aware that program events are often geared towards environmental pollution topics with the overarching goal to enhance their college experience with community, shared experiences, mentoring, and skills.
Once accepted to the scholarship program with calculated unmet financial need, what requirements must be met to receive monthly scholarship funding?
Maintain enrollment as a full time student (taking 12 or more credits per term) at Portland State University.
Maintain a 3.0 GPA (students with a GPA of 2.75-2.99 will be placed on academic probation).
Major in one of PSU’s STEM areas of study (pre-medical and other clinical fields are not eligible).
Continue to make progress towards the completion of a STEM degree.
