The EAGLES program addresses the shared goals of our collaborating institutions, Portland State University and Heritage University:
Increase retention among undergraduate 4-yr and transfer students
Address financial barriers
Identify effective academic and social support, curriculum, research, and instruction
Provide opportunities to improve student success and persistence in STEM
Foster collaboration in trans-disciplinary research topics, such as environmental pollution
EAGLES Scholarships are open to PSU undergraduate students who meet the following criteria:
US citizens, permanent residents, US nationals, or admitted refugees
At least one year of school remaining
A 3.0 GPA (GPA of 2.75-2.99 may be considered under certain circumstances)
PELL Grant eligible/low income
Committed to majoring in one of the STEM studies areas (pre-medical and other clinical fields are not eligible)
The EAGLES Scholarship is a need- and merit-based award that, when combined with federal and state grants, helps with the cost of an undergraduate education in STEM.
Additionally, EAGLES scholars receive:
mentorship from faculty and professionals in the scientific community
opportunities to participate in undergraduate research and paid internships
participation in workshops and other professional development
