PSU Managed Leaves moves to AbsenceTracker on May 18.
Path A: Integrated with FMLA/PFML
Use this path if you are requesting protected leave for a serious health condition, family care, bonding, or other qualifying reasons under FMLA or PFML.
Log into AbsenceTracker.
Select "Start a new Leav of Absence".
In the intake questionnaire, check "Yes" for:
"Would you like us to apply DSLB hours after you exhaust your own sick leave?"
Outcome: HR verifies your union status and applies the hours automatically once your personal sick leave hits zero. This allows DSLB to act as a "top-off" or bridge for your pay.
Path B: Standalone (Minor Illness)
Use this path for shorter durations that don't need a full FMLA or PFML case.
Log into AbsenceTracker.
Select "DSLB - Minor Illness" as your primary reason.
Follow the prompts and submit.
Outcome: Your request is routed to the DSLB Committee for manual review and approval.
Eligibility & Rules
Union Status: You must be in an AAUP-represented position and must not have opted out of the annual donation to the sick leave bank.
Sick Leave Exhaustion: DSLB only activates once your personal sick leave is fully exhausted.
Committee Review: "Minor Illness" requests may require DSLB Committee approval.
Pay Coordination: DSLB provides 100% of your regular pay. If you receive PFML benefits, your DSLB hours will be capped to ensure your total pay does not exceed 100%.
Tracking Your Status
Check the "My Cases" section of your AbsenceTracker dashboard:
Pending: HR or the Committee is currently reviewing your request.
Approved: DSLB hours have been added to your leave calendar.
Closed: Your leave has ended or bank hours are exhausted.
