Examine relationship between trait-level self-uncertainty, vitality, and well-being outcomes.
Explore the buffering effects of both directive and empowering leaderships through reduction of uncertainty
Examine both psychological and physical outcomes associated with self-uncertainty.
Where/When: Hard copy field surveys completed at organization in three waves over 6 months. Physical health indicators were collected between waves by organizations and shared (with permission) with researchers.
Why: Understanding the uncertainty of workers can guide organizations to implementing complementary leadership styles, potentially improving both psychological and physical health of workers. This has potential to benefit individual workers through increased health/well-being and organizations through decreased healthcare costs.
