A welcome from Staff and Faculty who created Summer Research Academy and run the BUILD EXITO program!
This presentation will take you through an overview of our program, our partnerships, and what you will be encountering during Program Year 1.
Scholars will be able to meet other scholars and learn more about one another through a mindfulness activity: The Rose, Thorn, & Bud dialogue. During this activity, you’ll be able to discuss your Rose: A highlight, a success, or something positive that happened; your Thorn: A challenge you experienced, or something you can use more support with; your Bud: New ideas or something you're looking forward to knowing or understanding more.
Dr. Tory Blackwell, a Biology faculty member from Clackamas Community College, will host this session. Dr. Blackwell will explain the purpose of an elevator pitch, provide examples of pitches, and give tips on how to write a pitch.
Cassandra Ramirez (EXITO's Student Services Coordinator, PSU), and Mae Culbertson (one of EXITO's Project Coordinators, PSU) will review the SRA sessions and materials to support Scholars with their elevator pitches.
Scholars will have the chance to ask questions at the end of Dr. Blackwell’s talk.
Although most session videos will not be posted until a couple of days after the session, this session recording will be posted by 10 a.m. on June 16th PDT.
Complete the Daily Reflection on today's sessions by the time we start tomorrow*.
