Blended learning models
Blended learning can be delivered through a range of different approaches. The balance between face-to-face and online components will depend on the curriculum, learning outcomes, learners’ needs and prior experiences, teacher competence and confidence and access to digital technologies/ reliable internet.
The majority of blended-learning programmes resemble one of four models: Rotation, Flex, À La Carte, and Enriched Virtual. The Rotation model includes four sub-models: Station Rotation, Lab Rotation, Flipped Classroom and Individual Rotation (Christensen et al., 2013; Horn and Staker, 2014; Powell et al., 2015).
