In grade 9, you will take a total of EIGHT courses:
The SIX compulsory courses are English, French, Math, Science, Physical Education, and Geography. These courses are destreamed, meaning you do not have to choose a level for the course. All grade 9 students will take the same course.
The remaining TWO courses are electives - you can choose courses that you are interested in. You can choose from Business, Family Studies, Technology, or a broad range of Arts courses (Dance, Drama, Guitar, Instrumental Music, Visual Arts).
If you are a Regional Arts student, the other 2 courses are already selected for you - they will be the two courses in your Arts discipline (Dance, Drama, Music or Visual Arts). Be sure to check our Regional Arts website often!
There are some great tools you can use to help you in your course selection!
First, use the tools in myBlueprint to help you read about the courses you can choose and to keep track of what interests you'd like to pursue.
Don't feel overwhelmed about what you need to do to graduate just yet - just know that whatever courses you select in Grade 9 will count toward graduation. If you'd like to look ahead, you can find graduation requirements here; but you don't need to look at this now!
