Make Peel Proud Resource Rainbow
"In the Peel District School Board, we value, celebrate and support diverse students, staff and families and their allies under the 2SLGBTQ+ umbrella. We are committed to dismantling discrimination and oppression in all its intersecting forms... This site and the resources herein are framed to empower students and educators to approach 2SGBTQ+ inclusion through an anti-racist lens. We invite you to use the site to build safe, inclusive and empowering learning environments by interrupting mindsets and practices that marginalize and silence queer youth of all racial, linguistic, religious, backgrounds and abilities. "
Canadian Pride: 2SLGBTQ+ Resources for Secondary Students
This resource was created by Barbara McVeigh, a Teacher Librarian at Fletcher's Meadow S.S. She has included resources from organizations & institutions such as Queer 101, the 519 and the NFB, as well as stories, essays and poems from artists such as Dionne Brand, Vivek Shraya and Amanda Leduc.
LGBTQ Student Resources and Support
"According to the National School Climate Report, 86 percent of LGBTQ youth reported being harassed at school, compared to 27 percent of students overall. School years can be challenging for all students, yet those who identify as LGBTQ often face additional pressures or concerns. Within this guide, LGBTQ students can find resources and information about support systems available to help them navigate both high school and college environments."
TransWhat?
"Allyship to trans people involves a number of different actions: some are necessary and relatively easy, while some require more commitment and activism. Some of these are behaviors that you must engage in to treat trans people respectfully; some are goals to aspire to, but they may take a while and require some more courage!"
The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity
"The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCGSD) intersectionally promotes diversity in gender identity, gender expression, and romantic and/or sexual orientation in all its forms on a national level through services in the areas of education, health, and advocacy. Our resources and programming can be used to uplift gender and sexual minorities, as well as give them tools to wider populations in building allyship."
The LGBTQ+ Wellness Centre
"We are members of the community which we serve. Our board and staff are formed from persons who are members of the QTBIPOC community, as well as persons who are members of or have close ties and affiliations with the wider 2SLGBTQ+ community. Formed of a need for reliably funded services for trans and gender diverse communities, The Centre is here to be a sustainable community-focused organization that delivers accessible services to trans individuals at all stages of their journey. Our vision also includes serving other members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in conjunction with some of our community partners. The Centre is also co-located with a queer-owned pharmacy that is ready to meet the specific needs of trans people."
