Glossary of Online & Hybrid Learning Vocabulary
Asynchronous: Independent work that can be completed without live teacher support, at any time of the day
Continuous Learning Period (CLP): Think of this like a virtual “study hall.” Your student will have independent work to complete or catch up on, and access to teachers who can help them if they need direction.
Hybrid: Teachers are teaching some students in-person and some students online. NOTE: If your student or their teacher is self-isolating due to COVID exposure, they will attend and/or conduct class entirely online, regardless of what cohort they are in.
In-Person: Your student is attending class in the school building in-person.
Online: Your student is attending class online.
Synchronous: Time directly learning live, online, with the teacher and other classmates.
Virtual Learning Environment (VLE): A fancy word for “Online Classroom.” Peel students use either D2L BrightSpace or Google Classroom as their online learning platforms.
