“What is an ASSDP?”
ASSDP stands for After School Skills Development Program and directly supports our K-12+ students with a diagnosis of autism.
Yearly programs are created in response to student strengths, needs and interests, but always include strong focuses on social & functional communication, emotional literacy, self-awareness & advocacy, self/co-regulation, life/personal skills and making connections while building community.
Our ASSDPs are AVAILABLE & FREE to ONLY Peel District School Board K-12+ students with autism and their families. Program spots are not guaranteed.
Programs are ongoing, across the seasons of the school year, and students may attend more than once, (if space is available). We do not have a 'set schedule' of programs as we respond to the identified grade levels, skills, and needs from the completed Family Referral Forms.
A lot of programs do take place virtually, but depending upon the season, we strive to facilitate some in-person opportunities and community-building experiences.
Communication Disclaimer:
The ASSDP programs explained and supported are the ideas and collaborations of the Peel District School Board and do not necessarily reflect those of the Ministry of Education in the Province of Ontario.
