We recognize the long and rich history of Asian-Canadians, the challenges they have had to overcome and their many successes. We commit ourselves to learning about the great diversity of traditions and experiences of Asian Canadians, as we learn about Asia as a vast area with many countries and cultures. We are grateful for the contributions of Asian Canadians to Canada and the world in the past, the present, and the future.
Who is of Asian Descent?
The definition of "Asian" may be inclusive and broad, and applies to people who come from or whose ancestors come from:
East Asia- China, Hong Kong S.A.R., Japan, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan.
South Asia - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka.
Central Asia - Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.
Southeast Asia - Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
