PERSONAL LEARNING GOAL

Our personal learning goal for September is 'Respectful.' Please let me know how your child is showing this personal learning goal.  ALL of the personal learning goals are important however if you have any pictures or can share something that they have done that reflects this learning goal - we can share as a class.

Collaborators - we worked together to build a cube tower to cover the width of the classroom.

PLG respectful

Well done Vedansh - Learner of the Week this week!

English

Reading

The children are learning read together as a class - with a focus on fluency and expression.  They are also encouraged to look at basic punctuation and use their understanding of this when reading aloud.  The children are also looking at information texts about wolves and identifying the differences between fiction and non-fiction.

Writing

The children will begin to learn research skills as they create a fact file about wolves.  They will use their understanding of non-fiction texts to answer questions about wolves.

The students are learning how to be researchers and use the information they find to answer specific questions about a topic.  They also found out that you can use a wide variety of sources to get information.

maths

This week the children are working on numerals and the spelling of numbers.   They are also working on various representations of numbers within 100.

PLACE VALUE GAME   Try this new game to partition numbers.

Maths Dictionary  - this week's vocabulary is on Google Classroom.

Dear Parents,

The children's Times Tables Rock Stars accounts have been set up.  The video explains what it is about.

Letters with your child's log in details will be sent out on Thursday.

ipc - ENTRY POINT

This week the children started their IPC topic - From A to B.

First they played travelling games in the gym to recall different ways to travel...

Different ways of travelling using equipment.

Following their physical activity, Y2 visited some countries.  They had to make sure that their boarding passes, passports and suitcases were ready!  The students then looked at the different modes of transport of that country.

ipc - Knowledge Harvest

During Knowledge Harvest, we review what the children already know about the topic.  The children also came up with questions that they would like to find out about our new topic.

First the children worked together to sort out the transport pictures using various criteria.. then they worked individually to sort the pictures into sea, land and air travel.

well being wednesdays

In our Wellbeing lessons this week, the children will focus on resilience.  What is it?  Why is it important? How does this Personal Learning Goal help us in life?  The children will also finish their designs for the worry monster box - who will help eat our worries when we share them.
