Dear Parents,
We are pleased to welcome you to Seesaw. This will be the main communication tool used between home and school.
Please take time to become familiar with the application. You can message your child’s teacher and the specialist teachers directly. Your child can add pictures, videos, text or documents to their subject journal. We encourage your child to talk to you about the topics they have been learning about in school.
PDO School’s Online Safety Agreement is pinned to the stream. If you have any questions or require any further support, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Our personal learning goal for September is 'Respectful.' Please let me know how your child is showing this personal learning goal. ALL of the personal learning goals are important and if you have any pictures or can share something that they have done that reflects this learning goal - we can share as a class.

English
Reading
The children are continuing learning to read together as a class - with a focus on fluency and expression. When reading with your child, please look at how they deal with punctuation, such as commas and full stops. Whilst listening to them read, a lot of the children do not acknowledge basic punctuation.
The children will be looking at how the author uses vocabulary to portray meaning.
Writing
In writing, the students are finding out about adjectives and verbs this week and their relation to nouns. They are looking at poems and how adventurous vocabulary can be used in emotive writing. Finally, the children will write their own poem based on Winter, to reflect the setting of the story in our class reader.
Handwriting
The children are working on letter formation - this week they are working on s and f. They need to look at letter size and where they start the formation of the letter from.
We are readers in 2A!
maths
This week the children are working on skip jumping of 2s, 5s and 10s. This will be repeated during the year. The children will also be working on 3s.
Key Questions to ask your child;
if I count on in 5s from 0, will I say the number 12? Can you explain your answer? What patterns do you notice?

Maths Dictionary - this week's vocabulary is on Google Classroom.
The children participating in Active Maths to reinforce understanding of 2s, 5s and 10s. First they went into the playground to make patterns of 2, 5 and 10.
Then they sequenced jumps of 2 forwards and backwards in the learning souq.
ipc
This week, we are focusing on the physical and human geography of our school location, and creating maps using pictures and symbols. They continued with the geography theme by using directional language to describe position and movement.
