For Home Learning Year 1 are expected to read for at least 10 minutes each day and this can be recorded in their learning logs.
Other activities that can be done:
Practise their Maths Passport skills (see below) - 5 minutes a day.
Practise speed sounds and reading green/red words (see below) - 5 minutes a day.
Children can practise their speed sounds and letter formation for 10 minutes a day.

Watching the Alphablocks is a great fun way to practise blending at home - encourage your child to join in with the characters and guess the word befor they say it.
Maths Passports are a strategy for improving children’s mental maths capabilities. The scheme is aimed at developing children’s instant recall skills. i.e the speed with which they are able to recall number facts.
Children begin with practising the Learning Targets for Europe and then move onto the Middle East. You can practise these targets at home. Children are assessed every 2 weeks to ensure they are retaining their knowledge. They are done verbally and should be able to answer them quickly and fluently.
