The first believers in the book of Acts gathered in homes to pray together, study together, eat together and to fellowship with each other. This practice made the church strong and made each believer a vital part of the Kingdom of God on Earth.

Today the church meets in buildings which makes it harder to have the close knit relationships the early church had. Pleasant Dale is committed to taking people from the crowd to the classroom and living room. Only in smaller settings do people begin to fellowship on a deeper level and feel like they are a part of the church as a whole.

The information provided below is a list of Life Groups, we call Sunday School and Small Groups. No matter what they are called, each gathering whether in a classroom or in someone's living room are all an attempt to get people meeting together like the early church did to pray together, study together and fellowship together.

MEET OUR BIBLE TEACHERS!

STUDENTS (Youth 6th-12th)

Bryson Whaley: Bryson is our Youth and Young Adult Pastor. Along with leading our student ministries he also teaches the youth Life Group class on Sunday mornings at 8:30. You will find Room 201 upstairs in the old church building. Currently he has been teaching on Paul’s letters to the churches. If you are in 6th-12th grade, you’re invited to join him.

FAITHFUL FOLLOWERS

Linda Bell: Linda teaches a mixed group of men and women ranging from ages 30’s-70’s. No matter where you are in life, single, widowed, divorced or married you are welcome to come and join them as they study God’s word together. Currently they are studying the book of Genesis in the Explore the Bible series from LifeWay. You will find Linda’s class on the second floor of the old church building in room 203. There is a spot waiting for you. Please come and join us.

HE-BREWS

Steve Nunn: Steve teaches a mixed group of men and women who are excited about going deep into God’s word. Currently they are going through the book of Acts. Every Sunday morning coffee is waiting. Steve and his wife Janet would love to have you join them. They meet in room 104 which is located on the 1st floor of the old church building.

SENIOR ADULT MEN’S CLASS

Lynn Hough: Lynn teaches a class of senior men every Sunday morning. They discuss scripture and really go deep into the history, culture and original meaning and application of the text. They would love to have you join them in room FH-1 located in the Clothes Closet downstairs of the old church building.

YOUNG AT HEART

Maria Gutledge: Maria teaches a group of senior ladies that are young at heart. They enjoy fellowship and studying God’s word together. They are currently using LifeWay’s Bible Studies for Life material. Each study leads to deep discussion and prayer. The warm and inviting atmosphere in this class is a place to look forward to each Sunday morning. If you feel young at heart and looking for a group of ladies to study together with then they would love to have you join them. They meet in room 208 on the second floor of the old church building.

ROYAL DESCENDANTS

James West: James teaches a mixed class of young and old, married and single, from many different stages of life. They enjoy studying God’s word together. They love deep discussions related to the application and understanding of each passage. Outside of bible study they really do care for and pray for one another. They are one big family that would love for you to join them. They are using David. C. Cook material and currently studying the topic of Faith. They meet in the Youth Chapel in the old church building on the second floor. There is plenty of room and a place waiting for you.

YOUNG ADULT

Adam Furr: Adam teaches a class of young married, single, college and career. They love meeting together and studying God’s word on a deep level. They take seriously the truth of God’s word and prayerfully search the scriptures for right understanding and application. Currently they are studying the book of Ruth and will begin in January to study the Gospel and our responsibility to share it through Evangelism. If you are young and married, young and single, or of college age they welcome you to become a part of their Life Group. They meet in room 201 on the second floor of the old church building.

EXTRAORDINARY MARRIAGE

Scott Roberts: Scott and his wife Kashana teach single and married couples from all stages of life. They enjoy meeting together each week and fellowshipping together while studying God’s word. They pray for one another, they laugh together, they love discussing the Bible together. If you are looking for group of loving people to study the Bible with then they would love to see you Sunday mornings at 8:30 in room 102 on the first floor of the old church building.

KINSMEN REDEEMER

Kristi Hunter: Kristi teaches a small group of ladies who love meeting together and studying God’s word. They take books of the Bible and explore them from beginning to end the way they were written. Beginning in January they will start studying the book of 1 Corinthians. They invite you and would love to have you join them. There is nothing like meeting together in a small group and exploring God’s word together. Join them at 8:30 Sunday mornings in room 204 on the second floor of the old church building.

SISTERS IN CHRIST

Dale Walker: Dale teaches a group of single and married young ladies. They love doing life together. Having a close group of friends to help you in all stages of life is something most people don’t have. They really care about and support one another through the good and difficult times of life. They are currently studying “Faith the Pleases God”. They invite you to join them on Sunday mornings at 8:30 in room 209 on the second floor of the old church building.

CHUCK’S LIFE GROUP

Chuck Payne: Chuck teaches a mixed group of men and women who love studying God’s word. They have studied topics such as Prophecy and Prayer in the past. Beginning in January he will lead a 12-week study on “Discovering your Spiritual Gift”. Every believer has a spiritual gift and needs to know it so they can fulfill the purpose God has for them. They invite you to join them as they begin this exciting journey together. They meet every Sunday morning in room 101 on the first floor of the old church building.

SENIOR ADULT MEN AND WOMEN

Eddie James: Eddie teaches a mixed group of senior adult men and women on Sunday mornings. They are currently studying “Faith that Pleases God”. In the Golden years it’s nice to have a likeminded group of believers to fellowship together with. They would love for you to join them in room 207 every Sunday morning at 8:30 on the second floor of the old church building.

PATH FINDERS

Chris Catledge: Chris and his wife Carolyn teach a mixed group of middle age single and married. They love meeting Sunday mornings for Bible study and also love planning events to get together outside of church. They are currently studying “Faith the Please God”. No matter where you are in life this is a class for you. They invite you to join them every Sunday morning at 8:30 in room 206 on the second floor of the old church building.
