A NOTE FROM RICK HUNTER

PDBC MINISTER OF MISSIONS

As I reflect back on what God has done in my life over the past 20 years since being saved I am overwhelmed by His goodness. He allowed me to have a heart for missions from early on. I went on my first mission trip with Pleasant Dale Baptist Church in 1994. It was that trip that God burdened my heart for missions. Since then I have been on dozens of trips to different states and Turkey. I have had the privilege of organizing and encouraging people to go on mission trips through the four churches that I have served in as pastor or on staff. As a pastor I have taken dozens of people each year on trips to other states helping churches and ministries. I have had the joy of seeing many make a decision to go on foreign mission trips over the years. God has allowed me to inspire many to leave their comfort zone and go and serve others for a week or more. Several years ago God put all that experience to work to lead our church to plant a mission work in Bradshaw, WV. This work was our sole responsibility from the very beginning. Today that ministry continues to grow. A few years ago we were able to purchase a church building and property to better serve the people of Bradshaw and surrounding areas. I love praying and watching where God is working so I know where to be working. I enjoy telling people about what God is doing and inviting them to get involved. Time and money are never wasted when it involves mission work. I love spending time serving with God’s people as we serve the Lord together. My greatest joy comes from families who serve together. When the whole family goes out together to serve there are memories being made and a supernatural bond that takes place that cannot be expressed in words. When the church family goes off together to serve there is a supernatural bond that takes place as they work together. Decades later people who served together on mission trips still talk about those trips and what it meant to them. As the Missions Director of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church it is my joy to plan and prepare mission work that we can all be involved in. From the baby who sees mom and dad serving together to kids and youth who participate with their parents as the family serves together. Missions has no age limit and is not gender driven. If you are a Christian God has a place for you to serve. God has a place for your family to serve. I hope to inspire and encourage the family at Pleasant Dale to be deeply involved and committed to serving God on mission. Where will you go? Jesus said, “Come, follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.”
