Play It Again, Arkansas! envisions a future where every student who desires to participate in an instrumental music program has the opportunity to acquire new skills, cultivate excellent habits, and form lasting friendships that extend beyond their time in public education.
Play It Again, Arkansas! is dedicated to supporting students who aspire to participate in instrumental music programs at public schools but face financial constraints. Our mission is to provide these students with refurbished instruments at no cost, ensuring that they can pursue their musical passions without barriers.
Research has shown that music education helps students do better in other areas of academic study. More importantly, music education gives our students a positive activity that builds their confidence and teaches them lessons about diligence, persistence, perseverance, creativity, and teamwork.
Play It Again, Arkansas! strives to provide instruments for students who cannot afford one themselves. We work diligently to acquire instruments, have them repaired, and place them into the hands of students, so they may be able to participate in a music ensemble.
Play It Again, Arkansas! has put thousands of instruments in student's hands since its founding in 2000. These students would have otherwise not been able to participate in instrumental ensembles in their school. We were able to give them a place to belong along with a skill that they will be able to use for the rest of their life.
"Ask a CEO what they are looking for in an employee and they say they need people who understand teamwork, people who are disciplined, people who understand the big picture. You know what they need? They need musicians."
– Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee
