GENERAL INFORMATION
The Governor's Award for Musical Excellence is to be presented to an outstanding high school senior in the spring semester of each school year.
The award is a very high-quality medallion with a neck ribbon. The medallion may be worn at the graduation ceremony with the permission of the local school administrators and/or school board.
Our goal is to reward and recognize high school seniors for their commitment to excellence in music, regardless of school size or location. It is also our intent to provide motivation for the younger students to continue their course of musical instruction.
Each music department will form a committee to choose the recipient, based on their demonstration of the following characteristics:
Musicianship Teamwork Dedication Character Attitude
The award may be presented to ONE student enrolled in a music performance class at your high school. The award recipient can be in one or a combination of band, orchestra, choir, or jazz band.
The students will be recognized at their local high school awards assemblies and their names will be submitted to Play It Again, Arkansas!
WE MUST HAVE A DIGITIAL SUBMISSION TO PROCESS THE NOMINATION.
NOTICE: NEW 2025 - Only digital nominations will be accepted.
Important: There will ONLY be one hundred Governor’s Award for Musical Excellence recognitions presented this year.
Submission of this digital application constitutes a signature and confirmation that a school-based committee selected the recipient.
