As digital use has sharply increased (see the latest research), we encourage students and families to talk about the issues of digital media and assess its impact, both positive and negative.
In Ms. Cotta's classes, we address some of the following topics that are meaningful for our students and families.

Aim to be a discerning consumer of media. As you browse social media, the web, and news, ask yourself the following questions:
Who is behind the information?
Why are they sharing the information?
What claim is being made?
What is the evidence, and what do others say about the claim?
Take the "Navigating Digital Information" Crash Course from John Green. (Yes, that John Green, the author of The Fault in our Stars.) He's very entertaining, but more importantly, you'll get some important ideas on reading and viewing digital information with a critical eye.
