ESOL Level 2 Students Write About Their Jobs
My job is manicurist. I like my job, but it is stressful sometimes. I work at a nail salon in Woodburn. I work so far from home. I drive about forty minutes. I work four days a week, from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. I have a good salary. It is $20.00 an hour. I don’t have medical benefits or a dental plan or sick days. I don’t have vacation. Sometimes my job is stressful. It’s difficult to do nail customer design on a very long nail. Sometime, I meet difficult customers and friendly customers. A lot of customers like my nail work. They give a lot of tips.

I work as a stocker at the supermarket Winco. My job requires stocking many boxes fast and working hard every day. I work four days a week, eight hours a day. I start at 11:00 pm and work till 7:30 am every night. It pays me by deposit check to my account every two weeks. I have medical, vision and dental benefits and vacation pay. I think I don’t have sick days. Sometimes it is dangerous because I use sharp tools to open the boxes.

I work at a medicine company in Tigard, Oregon. My job is to pack medicine every day. I work six days a week. Three day I work from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm and three days from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. My job is full time, 49 hours a week. I have good benefits. I have a retirement plan. I don’t have sick days. I don’t have any vacation. My friend doesn’t like her job because there are no sick days. I don’t like my job because I stand all day long. I look for a different job.

In my country I worked in an online store. My working hours were 45 to 50 hours a week. I had a good salary, but I didn't get a raise. I had 24 vacation days a year. Sick leave was not paid, only my salary was the same when I was sick. I did not have medical and dental benefits. I liked my job because I worked at home and earned good money. I worked with people. The work was stressful. It was not easy.
