Cohort Overview
Part 1 - Explore
4 weeks - Each week, we will review media- videos, readings, etc., and then we'll reflect and respond through forum posts and small group discussions.
Objectives
Cohort members will:
- learn to approach curriculum design using open resources and practices, universal design and an equity lens to improve course materials.
- connect with cohort members to establish a community of innovative teachers working toward more equitable and socially just student learning experiences.
Cohort Topics
Week 1: Group communication agreements, goals, OER and copyright basics.
Week 2: Culturally responsive teaching and course materials through an equity lens.
Week 3: Universal design.
Week 4: Open pedagogy; opportunities for equity
Weekly mini-group discussions
Cohort members will be assigned to "mini-groups" based on schedules, and these mini groups will hold a 1 hour conversation either on the phone or virtually each week. Cohort members should review the media for the week before their mini-group discussion and will be provided with prompts. Participation in these group discussion is mandatory. If something comes up for a group member, please reschedule the conversation to a time when all members can participate.
Expectations
- Review all weekly materials before meeting and discussing with your mini-group.
- Every mini-group member should participate in weekly discussions every week. If one member is not able to meet at your normal time, please reschedule it.
- Read the mini-group discussion summaries from each group each week.
- Be sure to complete all weekly tasks by 11:59pm of the specified due date. If you will not be able to complete a task by the due date, email Jen ahead of time. Be the student you'd like to have in your classes!
- No ghosting! Sometimes things come up... If you can no longer participate in this cohort, please email Jen and let your mini-group know.
Stipend
Part 1- Explore: $200 stipend upon completion

Part 2 - Implement
Objectives
Participants will use concepts and techniques examined in Part 1 to redesign a component of curriculum for a course they are teaching.
Stipend
Part 2 - Implement: $300 upon completion; Part 2 is optional for Part 1 participants, but Part 1 must be completed in order to participate in Part 2
