A Digital Daguerreotype is an old 19th century image that is pasted on a gleaming surface. They're very fragile and they bring in lots of detail of what the image is showing. To replicate this type of image I had to do some research on what they are and how people posed themselves in the frame. After doing some research I needed to take 1-3 self-portraits of anyone, including myself. Photoshop was also needed for this assignment, in which I had to layer the portraits by adding 2-3 textures.
For this class, I've always wanted to do a self-portrait of myself, but I wasn't sure when the appropriate time would be to do so. After going over the instructions, I've figured this would be the perfect way to work on the portrait.
Researching on the internet was very easy because not only did my answers popped up, but I was also able to look up different images. Looking at images gives me a better example of what daguerreotypes were and how I can use them to complete my work.
Taking the portraits wasn't too bad, except I had to find someone that could help me. I choose my younger brother to take the pictures for me because he was the least busiest person in the house. He's also had some experience with taking portraits in the past.
Adding the layers in photoshop was a little difficult at first because I was still new user at the time. After looking at some tutorial videos and doing some practice I was able to get the hang of it later on.
