My life in the United States is different from my life in Honduras. In the United States, everything is bigger and more organized. The streets are clean, and there are many stores and big schools. People follow many rules, and life is fast. In Honduras, life is simpler and calmer. I was close to my family and neighbors. The weather is warm and people are very friendly. I miss the food and the traditions of my country. Living in the United States gives me more opportunities, but Honduras will always be my home.

In my home country, my life was very different from my life in the United States. In my country, I lived close to my big family, and we spent a lot of time together. Life was more traditional, and I did not have as many opportunities for school and work. Things were sometimes difficult, and I did not always feel safe or independent. In the United States, my life is more independent and busy. I go to school, focus on my education, and think about my future goals. I have more opportunities here, but sometimes I miss my family and my culture. Even though it is not always easy, living in the United States has helped me grow and become stronger.

In my home country, I lived in Bogotá with my parents, my sisters, my grandmother, and our pets. My favorite days were coming home from work and spending time with my family or going out with my friends. I had a very active social life, and I also spent a lot of time with my cousins and extended family. Here in the United States, my routine is very different. I take care of Bodhi and spend most of my time at home because I do not drive here. From Monday to Wednesday, I go to swimming classes with the baby. On the weekends, I go to the gym in my free time. I also started studying and have made new friends. Angélica has been a great friend to me and makes me feel at home. When I do not go out with friends, I spend time with my host family, either at home or sometimes going out together. Without a doubt, this country has helped me grow and mature as a person. My grandmother passed away when my course started, and the baby became my refuge during my grief. I knew she would not want me to give up and go back home because I am fulfilling my dreams. In Colombia, my mom used to cook for me, but here I am more independent. I miss my home and my family every day, but I am very grateful for this opportunity. Even though some days are exhausting, I truly value this experience. I know this is temporary, and I still have a few months left here. My English has improved a lot since I started studying. I will always be Colombian, but the United States now holds a very special place in my heart.

I was born in Venezuela and lived in Caracas, its capital, until I was 13. I had a wonderful childhood, without luxuries but happy. In 2016 the crisis hit Venezuela and my family decided to move to Tachira, Venezuela. My life there was very difficult at first for the first three years. My parents separated and I had to start working to help my mother with expenses.
I worked in a dog food factory after finishing my fifth year of high school. I moved to Cucuta, Colombia to work for there for six months. I also lived in Medellin but I didn’t have a good experience there. I decided to return to my hometown and study makeup, and I did very well. I had a salon and did makeup for the girls in town. I also worked out at the gym and went to church. My mom had a baby, and during my last year in Venezuela, I tried to enjoy my family as much as possible.

My life in Colombia was very different from my life in the United States. In Colombia, I studied to be a sailor, and I worked in maritime jobs. I handled boats and yachts, and I felt confident in my career. When I arrived in the United States, my life changed a lot. I had to start learning English and adapt to a new culture and new rules. I want to study again so I can continue working in maritime navigation in the future. Another big change is my family. In Colombia, I had my parents and relatives close to me. Here in the United States, I only have my husband, and he is my only family here. This was very hard for me. I also experienced culture shock because life here is very quiet and calm. In Colombia, there is music everywhere and people are more expressive. Even though the changes were difficult, I am learning, growing, and working hard to build a new life here.
Oceans, Mountains, and Forests of the United States
Oregon is the most beautiful place to be in the United States. There are many beautiful places in the United States, but Oregon has the most gorgeous geographical features. The Pacific Ocean is very beautiful, gloomy, bright, and strong. It’s able to give out the beauty of the Earth, and it’s the largest ocean on Earth. The Pacific Ocean reaches all the way to the Arctic Ocean. The beauty of it is like heaven. It shines bright with all the stars in the sky. One forest in the United States is the Mount Hood National Forest. It scrapes the sky with its beauty. The trees have the most green leaves in the world and the beauty of them is able to make up for all the landscape. The dirt is fresh, the mud is thick, and the fishing in the forest is very good. There are many wild animals that live in the forest such as the deer and the bobcats. It erupted about 20 years ago, and its beauty is still around today. Mount Hood has an elevation of 11,249 feet and the strength of this volcano is like the gods. Mount Hood is still a potentially active volcano and could erupt at any time. When the gods made Oregon, they were making heaven. It’s absolutely incredible to life on Earth that he was able to make this mountain. With all of its beauty, he made the lakes, rivers, and streams.
