The Ambassador

The ESOL Ambassador is a triannual publication produced by the Portland Community College ESOL Department. It features essays written by students at all levels of the program, submitted by ESOL instructors. The publication is distributed across various departments and individuals at PCC. Heading Artwork: Julia Park

The heading photo is artwork by Julia Park. She was inspired to create this picture for her ESOL Reading 4 class. Notes from the artist: The picture was drawn using Mungyo oil pastel.  We read the book Alma Strikes a Chord during class.  Our homework was to create and bring art about the book.  So I imagined a scene with Alma, the main character of the book, struggling to compose a love song.  In the picture, she is thinking, "What is love?" or something that is beyond our imagination.
