I decided to rework my portrait by taking a pictures at my church. Of all the ones I took, the one I loved most was this image of my friend Preston leading worship at youth group. I thought it really was an image that showed him in his element and conveys that sense of worship to the viewer. The improvement I wanted to get from this photograph, was actually photographing someone in their environment in a natural, un-staged, way.
I decided to rework my monchratic picture by doing a completely different color... instead of gold I decided to go blue! I actually took this image at dance class, right as my dance teacher was testing out a new spotlight she got. The shadow the light made was stunning, I thought, and the fact that the blue silk matched the blue light so nicely was perfect, and made for such a cool monochromatic shot. The improvement I wanted here was really ensuring the color was prevalent, and that there weren't other colors fighting for the viewer's attention.
