Places to Visit

Sapzurro

Sapzurro is a fabulous place for holidays in Colombia.  In this place you can experience amazing moments.  The sea seen from Sapzurro is gorgeous.  This beach is lovely and peaceful.  Also you can find several kinds of animals, such as crabs, colored fish, monkeys, birds, and many plants.  Sapzurro is very near to the Darien Jungle.  This is the border with Panama.  You can even cross the border and visit a small beach in Panama.  I love Sapzurro because it’s a little hidden paradise, and my first time in the ocean was in this place.  Definitely Sapzurro is a relaxing and amazing place for a vacation with your family.

Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls is a great place to visit.  I went to Multnomah Falls last year.  I remember the sensation of the air on our face being completely cold.  It seemed like ice.  I began to climb a little to enjoy the incredible views that nature offered us.  The waterfall was very high.  Multnomah Falls is the highest in the entire state of Oregon.  I relaxed and rested.  I admired the beautiful view of the river.  I closed my eyes.  I felt the air on my face and listened to the sound of the water, and the singing of the birds.  When I descended from the waterfall, I decided to rest for a while and enjoy some hot chocolate.  Multnomah Falls is an incredible place to visit at any time.

Oregon Coast

I went to the Oregon Coast with my aunt and my aunt’s friends.  The road was very enjoyable.  We took some snacks, sandwiches, and cold drinks.  We spent the drive talking about our adventures and funny jokes.  When we located the Oregon Coast, I was amazed by the beauty of the Coast.  It’s a very beautiful place.  I took a lot of pictures of the Coast and shared them with my friends and family in Jordan.  The weather was great.  I saw trees, rocks, and some marine animals, such as seals and fish.  I also heard the sound of seals.  It was very loud and annoying, and the smell of seals is unpleasant.  I felt very happy on this trip and had a very nice time.  The Coast was the most beautiful place I visited.  I hope to visit the Coast again.

First Experiences

My First Day of PCC

The first day of PCC was an impressive and meaningful day.  My family came to America last summer.  Everything was strange, and we didn’t speak English.  A month later, we came to PCC for the first time.  PCC’s Sylvania campus was very quiet in July.  There was hardly anyone on campus.  All the classrooms were closed, but only the library was open.  I walked into the library and saw a student volunteer working at a computer.  I spoke English words with her with difficulty, but she didn’t understand me.  Finally, I was lucky to meet a student from China.  She told me how to apply for ESOL.  After that, I applied online successfully.  The school teacher tested my English language skills after two weeks.  Last, I got into Level 2 of ESOL after two months.  I was so excited.  The first day of PCC was an important and meaningful day for me.  I’ll remember it forever.

The First Time I Went Abroad

I remember clearly when I decided to go abroad for the first time.  About twenty years ago, I wanted to take a trip abroad because I had never traveled abroad before.  My colleague recommended Canada where she had been for 1 year.  So I decided to go to Canada.  I had a lot of things to do to get ready for travel.  First, I bought the flight ticket from a travel agency.  Second, I found a host family’s house to stay at for three months.  Third, I made an appointment with the host.  Fourth I packed my clothes and stuff.  Finally, at the date of departure I was very nervous and worried about my first flight.  If I lost my way at the airport or missed the flight, what should I do after?  But nothing like that happened.  I arrived safely at the Vancouver International Airport in Canada.  I was satisfied with my first flight and travel by myself.  I recharged my batteries and relaxed after my first long trip.

The First Time I Rode a Bike

The first time I rode a bike, I was very scared.  I am not definitely sure what my age was when I started bike riding, but I can guess I was around seven years old.  I wanted to learn how to ride and control the bike, and I told this to my mother.  She said, “You should be patient.”  After a few months, she bought a red bike for my birthday.  That was very surprising for me, and I told my mother to please teach me how to ride a bike.  After that, my mother and I went to the park, but I was anxious about riding a bike because I had no experience before that, and I was scared of falling off the bike.  Unfortunately, it took me a lot of time to completely learn it, but now I am happy to see I am not scared of a bike anymore.

The First Time I Spoke English

When I spoke English for the first time, I was on my trip to the U.S. about 12 years ago in an airport.  It was a lot of time.  I was very nervous when it was my turn to cross the line.  The immigration official asked me something, and I had no idea what he asked me.  Then he understood, and he had a smile and said welcome and enjoy your vacation.  After that, I felt so good when I saw my family, and I didn’t need to talk more English.  That time made me think how important it is to learn English.  Although it is always difficult to speak another language, English is my favorite language to learn.  In the future, I’ll not be nervous to speak it.

My First Job in America

When I first came to the U.S., I was very frustrated that my first job was frying food in a kitchen, and it was so hard for me.  I had never done this kind of job before.  I couldn’t believe that I needed to put food in a large pot with my hands.  The pot was almost completely filled with hot oil, and I always burned my hands.  At the same time, I needed to carry some food that was heavy for me again and again.  After several months, my hands were painful, but I still needed to work as usual.  Some days, I felt more pain in my hand, and I couldn’t bear it.  I thought I couldn’t continue doing this job.  So I got another job packing food at a restaurant.  It’s easier than before, and I feel relaxed.
