Connecting Career to College DIY Guide
The Connecting Career to College DIY Guide is an excellent source of advice on choosing a career, getting the right education and experience, finding job opportunities, preparing for interviews, keeping track of your job search and the best part, accepting job offers. Oddly, this guide doesn't include specific information on actually writing cover letters and resumes. Don't worry, we'll have an assignment covering this.
Internships
Internships are an outstanding way to develop on-the-job skills and career connections. Here is a quick article covering the importance of internships in accounting. The PCC career specialists can help you with the internship process and options through PCC.
The library also has an helpful page with articles, links and book suggestions dedicated to career development.
The PSU accounting program welcomes PCC students to join all of their events even before you've transferred. This website and related newsletter is full of great resources and opportunities. Registration for PSU events uses a PSU Handshake account, so if you are interested in attending an event, please contact PSU accounting career coach Colleen Sump at csump@pdx.edu. If you are planning on attending PSU as an accounting student in the future, it is critical to get involved now, because some of the prestigious accounting internships and career opportunities start in your second year of college.
