In this class we explored noticing and utilizing facial planes to better represent features and facial form. Exploring these shifts also heightened an awareness of light and shading on the face.
We worked with color mixing- to see how value, color temperature, and chroma can be modified and used to enhance a painting's illusion of depth and atmosphere.
Students taking this class for the second time, made a painting exploring facial planes and lighting, undertook a skin tone mixing assignment, to help them observe the myriad of colors within the face, and created a project to push their exploration of paint application methods and texture.
