Students in the Darkroom Photography course took images using a 35mm film camera. They had their film processed off site and were sent digital scans of their film negatives. The students then used digital photo editing software to edit their images based on traditional darkroom techniques.
For their final project, students selected a photographer to research. They created a presentation and led a discussion on their selected photographer with the class. Students then took images using their film cameras that were inspired in some way by the photographer they researched. Some students were interested in exploring the formal qualities of the work they studied, while others focused on the concepts and ideas presented in the work.
