About the Project
Together with the Division of Baguio through the initiative of the Office of Rep. Mark Go, PBEd is implementing a pilot run of an Enhanced School Heads Development Program (SHDP) in Baguio City.
The SHDP of the DepEd is designed to prepare school leaders of the different schools in the Philippines throughout their leadership journey or career stages as outlined in the DepEd Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads. Given this, an OECD study on Preparing Teachers and Developing School Leaders for the 21st Century: Lessons from Around the World shows that the involvement of school leaders in holding teachers accountable yielded higher student achievement in PISA scores.
GO & LEAD aims to address the needs of school heads in terms of professional development by allowing them to work directly on school improvement supported by the right systems – availability of data on learner outcomes and school performance, exposure to exemplars with comparable context, professional learning communities, as well as a learning management system.
The project is supported by the Australian Government in the Philippines through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The main approach will be putting theory alongside practice where principals are able to act on what they learn from the data, sessions with experts, and school visits. The activities will be aligned and contributory to the strategic directions of the division to increase learning outcomes in the schools as well as their current roles and responsibilities.
The report and professional development activities will be collaboratively designed by seasoned school leadership experts recognized by DepED NEAP and PRC supported by a credible and experienced local assessment center providing K to 12 competency tests with the ability to swiftly generate individual, school, and division-based reports compatible with the information system intended for this project.
