This activity is designed for implementation with your Digital Leaders to celebrate Walk to School Week. It involves using a Micro:bit-based step counter to track and record steps taken each day, promoting healthy habits and sustainable travel choices.
Learners will be guided through a code-along video walkthrough that shows them how to create a functioning step counter using the Micro:bit’s built-in accelerometer. I have included challenge ideas to further challenge learners coding and improve their Step Counter including the logging features and peripherals.
If you haven’t already, please download and share the PDF overview with your Digital Leaders. It contains everything needed to run the session smoothly and encourages learners to think critically and creatively about how to improve their step counter.
Let’s code together and take steps towards a healthier, more sustainable future!
Enjoy the activity and please share your Digital Leaders' creations!
