Dear Parent or Guardian,

We are pleased to announce that the Poplar Bluff School District has adopted the use of Chromebooks for this academic year. In order to ensure a safer and more productive online learning environment for your child, we have implemented GoGuardian's online services. It is worth noting that GoGuardian is utilized by over 10,000 schools worldwide, safeguarding 5.5 million students, and has received an endorsement from the Global Educator Institute for the GoGuardian Teacher product.

Operational Details of GoGuardian

GoGuardian operates through our school-managed Google Suite for Education Chrome accounts, which are active when a student logs into Chrome or a Chromebook using their school email address. The Poplar Bluff School District has enabled teachers to utilize GoGuardian Teacher with their students only during school hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

School Responsibilities

The Poplar Bluff School District is committed to ensuring the online safety and academic success of our students. We will provide guidance on digital responsibility and safety during class time, and train our teachers on the operation of GoGuardian, as well as our policies and procedures to protect student privacy.

Parental/Guardian and Student Responsibilities

We request that students use their school-managed Google accounts and devices in accordance with our Technology Usage Policy and Procedures, and solely for educational purposes. When students are off-campus, parents are responsible for supervising internet access and usage. We encourage you to establish guidelines for appropriate internet usage with your child, reinforce lessons on digital citizenship and safety, and promptly report any potential cyberbullying or other sensitive issues to the school.

To maintain a secure and focused online learning environment, GoGuardian collects specific personally identifiable information about your child. GoGuardian has consulted with privacy experts, participated in privacy organizations, and is a proud signatory of the Student Privacy Pledge. Additionally, GoGuardian has received iKeepSafe certifications for compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act and California student privacy laws.
